Find a Good Omega-3 Cookbook and Cook For Health

Just about everyone knows about the health benefits of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats. Called essential fatty acids these good fats are very important to your health. And you can add them to your diet with a few good Omega-3 recipes. Where do you get them? In an Omega-3 cookbook.

There's good fats and bad fats. The bad fats you probably know. Saturated fat that you get mainly, though not exclusively, from dairy products and meat. You know the ones, it's the fat that goes hard in the frypan when it's cold and it's not good for you. Then there's the good fats. Polyunsaturated, they don't go hard when they're cold and you really need them in your diet for good health.

There's 3 main kinds of Omega 3 fatty acids. They are DHA, EPA and ALA. The first 2 are found primarily in marine sources like fish and fish oil. DHA is the most important one and makes up a substantial part of your brain and it's this that is the most important.

To get DHA and EPA in your diet you can eat more fish, but the FDA tells us not to eat too much.

It's contaminated with chemicals. So the only safe way to take daily DHA and EPA is using fish oil capsules, and this works very well and is cheaper than eating fish. But there is also ALA, an Omega-3 fat that is plant based. This too is very useful to your health and you can get ALA into your diet with some judicious Omega-3 cooking.

There's a number of good plant sources for Omega-3 rich foods. Olive oil and canola oil are good to cook with as is flaxseed oil. And there's a range of vegetables that have high levels of ALA too. It's difficult to lay it all out in one article, what you need to do is to source a good Omega-3 cookbook and you'll learn heaps about Omega-3 cooking, and all the great foods that add healthy polyunsaturated fats to your diet and get your body working well and in good health.

So whilst you really need to be taking daily fish oil supplements for your DHA and EPA, you can also add some ALA to your diet too. Find a good Omega-3 cookbook, grab some healthy recipes and start cooking for the family.

A little fish, a few more veggies and you've got the recipe for great health. Start using some Omega-3 recipes today and you're on your way to a longer, healthier, life. And don't forget those daily fish oil supplements, that's the most important part. That's where you get your DHA and EPA, the two most important good fats.
